Dear Senators Feinstein, Boxer and Congresswoman Woolsey:

As America prepares to wage war against terrorism, I urge you to ensure that the suggestions enclosed are an integral part of the war plan.

I am a former Peace Corps volunteer who was trained to serve in West Pakistan, served in India, and had PCV buddies who served in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Recently, I returned to my work sites in India. I know how most in that part of the world live – with very little.

Please insure that our campaign includes:

1) Dropping packets of food that clearly delineate Donated by the USA. These should be small packets, as Dr. Watenberg has verified in tests, since these small packets most often get to the kids and people who most need them and not to corrupt, crazy ruling groups.

2) Small radios that allow us to get information to them. These perhaps should have headset included, so they can be listened to in silence and safety. Some of the radios should allow 2 way communication back to us.

3) Pictures of the atrocity committed against us and an explanation in their language of who did it and why we are coming to correct this sin against mankind.

4) The true teachings of the Koran and true meaning of a jihad and why those responsible are going to go to hell. Some summary of #3 & #4 should probably be wrapped with each food and radio drop as well as done separately.

5) If Peace corps volunteers have served in the parts of the country where our actions will be undertaken, then it might be worthwhile to mention that America prefers to have a Peace Corps oriented foreign policy, but this terrorist action has forced us to take up arms only against those involved in this sinful act.

As I hope you know, this will be a war for the minds, hearts and souls of those who are not yet crazy in the countries in which we must fight. The deep rooted enemy in this war is poverty, ignorance and illogical and non-religious zealotry that poverty and ignorance inspires. Please work to ensure that those roots of the war – poverty, ignorance and non-religious zealotry – are attacked by the USA.
