RE: Proposed World Service Corps (WSC) Bills/Resolution. 1) WSC via warm, productive, peaceful, civilian draft.  2) WSC via volunteering and receiving post service educational inducements.

Dear Senator Smith:

With your ability to cross party and ideological lines and support progressive ideas, I hope you will co-sponsor the two WSC Bills faxed herein.

Both at home and abroad there are many unmet health, environmental, and educational needs. As a Finance Committee member you know of our nation’s need to cost effectively allocate funds that will reduce future expenditures.  Fed Chair Alan Greenspan, in his March 2nd Congressional testimony, stressed how the GI Educational Bill laid the foundation for our nation’s economic strength and diversity.  He also stressed that we need to upgrade our education for today’s changing world.  WSC service experiences linked to post service educational incentives cost effectively achieves Greenspan’s espoused goal.

My proposed WSC Bills taps America’s character and talent to address health, environmental, ignorance, poverty and terrorism with a robust peaceful, productive, and civilian, force of Americans.  The WSC legislation would have young Americans choose peaceful civilian drafted or voluntary service with educational benefits in their choice of: Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, Habitat for Humanity, Head Start, Doctors Sans Borders, and the Red Cross.

Imagine how the world would react to word that America is preparing to send hundreds of thousands of Americans to address world problems.  The WSC Bills address costly world problems, while preparing a new generation of Americans to better operate in the global economy.

I need visionary Republicans to co-sponsor and push this proposal.

Your staff can link to updated World Service Corps information by clicking to the opening link at www.dwaynehunn.biz.  You will note that as of March 2005 a second WSC Bill/Resolution has been submitted.  1) WSC – warm draft calls for a warm, productive, peaceful, civilian draft.  2) WSC –volunteer gives educational inducements for volunteering for WSC service.

Similar requests have thus far been made to those CCed below.  I look forward to your reply.  Thanks for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Dwayne Hunn
