RE:  Proposed World Service Corp Bill seeking your co-sponsorship and/or support

Dear Representative Shays:

As a fellow Peace Corps volunteer, I hope you share the belief that a drastic expansion in the kind of service hard working PCVs did is long overdue.  As you know, only about 178,000 PCVs and trainees have served since the Peace Corps inception.  Their present annual cost is around $40,000, versus the annual cost of $300,000 + (and growing) cost for maintaining each of our soldiers.

If enacted, within a dozen years ten million Americans would better understand and address world needs.   As a leader and strong supporter of effective anti-terrorism, I hope that you share the belief that such bold world service would cost effectively counter the spread of terrorism.

I am requesting you co-sponsor the attached proposed World Service Corps (WSC) bill/resolution.

The WSC proposal links public private partnerships with the best in America’s efforts to have all served at home and abroad.  Your staff can link to updated World Service Corps information by clicking to the opening link at www.dwaynehunn.biz.

Similar requests have thus far been made to those CCed below.

I look forward to your reply.  Thanks for your consideration.

Incidentally, in 2001 I completed a Habitat Global Village build in Fiji, where we built a home for a Hindi family on the east side of Fiji.   Implementing the WSC would dramatically increase such needed building throughout the world.  As your experience has probably taught you, dramatically increasing such positive acts would drastically reduce recruiting options for terrorists and the need for military interventions.

Sincerely,

Dwayne Hunn
