RE: Proposed World Service Corps Bills/Resolutions
For consideration in
your Progressive Caucus
Dear Congressman Sanders:
My initial Peace Corps
training out of
With
double speak and hypocrisy spilling over from too much of our media and too many
political and business leaders,
The WSC proposals call
for all Americans aged 18-26 to do national service in their choice of Peace
Corps, AmeriCorps, Head Start, Doctors without Borders, Habitat for Humanity,
and the Red Cross. Both the one year
service proposal and the two year volunteer proposal, which provides funding
for community and state college tuition or vocational training equivalent, use
progressive WSC funding proposals to induce corporations and individuals who
pay no or meager taxes to share in the Terror War’s many costs. Details are available in the full proposals.
On March 23rd
I met with Congresswoman Woolsey, who strongly supported the idea and repeated
that it “fits perfectly with my progressive ideals.” She said she would be taking the proposals to
the Progressive Caucus.
She does not feel
House Republicans will support these proposals.
I will, however, continue trying to obtain bipartisan progressive
support, so I would welcome any Republican contacts you can suggest.
There are many social,
economic, and humanitarian reasons why these proposals should be quickly
enacted into law. There are also
domestic political reasons why these proposals need prompt introduction. Imagine a script that has another deadly set
of 9-11 explosions such as World Trade Centers 1, 2, & 7. Imagine Neo-Cons clamoring for revival of the
military draft as the answer to escalating violence in an increasingly
dangerous world. A smart, progressive
answer would be to have these World Service Corps proposal already in
legislative play in order to be sufficiently prepared to successfully offset
such a simplified and shortsighted answer.
In order for
progressives to win elections, red and blue stated Americans must better
understand the needs that exist at home and abroad. The first hand experiences provided by having
a million Americans, ranging from red necks to blue noses, serving in the WSC
will give them that understanding. It
will also educate those who serve in the classroom of the world, so that they
will not as easily buy into slanted, biased, and uninvestigated news and
talking head propaganda.
I am faxing you all the information listed
below. I will soon try emailing this
letter to all 58 Progressive Caucus members and hope at your upcoming meetings
they will all have downloaded information on the WSC.
The Caucus
and your staff can link to updated World Service Corps proposals, information,
and updates by clicking to the opening link at www.dwaynehunn.biz. Please send others to the site.
Recently, I also placed an interactive on-line Petition supporting the WSC proposal at: http://www.dwaynehunn.biz/petition/
The 2-3
minutes it takes to sign the Petition (and confirm via a return email) by you,
staff, and friends would be helpful and appreciated.
Similar requests have thus far been made to those
CCed below.
Implementing these proposals builds nations – abroad
and at home. When the world sees
I look forward to your reply. Thanks for your consideration.
Sincerely,
