Dear Congressman
Pombo:
People’s Lobby has
drafted World Service Corps (WSC) congressional legislation that would build an
all-volunteer army of a million peaceful, productive Americans who would serve
at home or abroad in areas of need. The
financial incentives used to inspire one million (.6th of 1% of
20-60 year old) Americans to serve are modest.
Funding the WSC will save more than its costs by dramatically reducing
costs in other federal programs.
While doing good at home
and abroad, the WSC’s success will dramatically reduce:
·
Shots
fired at our brave soldiers.
·
Hatreds
expressed against some of our policies.
·
Number of
hot spots we must deal with.
·
Spreading
“Ugly American” image.
The citizen-initiated
WSC legislation and substantial information is available at www.WorldServiceCorps.us. As PLI educates the country on the need for
such non-partisan legislation, we are also:
·
Seeking
support statements from candidates and elected officials of all parties.
·
Asking
Congresspersons to declare whether they would support and/or co-sponsor the WSC
proposals.
Do you support the
WSC congressional proposals?
Would you consider
co-sponsoring the WSC proposals?
Thanks. PLI looks forward to your reply.
Sincerely,
Executive Director
