A citizen-initiated World Service Corps may be a constructive alternative to military service and dramatically improve international-development policy, contends Hunn. This program would recruit and reward hundreds of thousands of volunteers for work at home or abroad with such groups as the Peace Corps, Habitat for Humanity and Doctors Without Borders.

4:45 p.m., Reception | 5:15 p.m., Program | Club office, 595 Market St., 2nd Floor, San Francisco | Free for Members, $15 for Non-Members | Directions to The Club.
Program Organizer: John O. Sutter

Earlier on July 24th, President Bush’s midnight-appointed UN Representative, John Bolton, will strike his “Boltisms” at the United Nations.  If you have time for only one Commonwealth Presentation on the 24th, come hear Peoples Lobby’s positive team building approach to making the world safer and smarter.  The World Service Corps congressional proposals are positive responses to 21st Century needs, not negative attacks on others’ efforts.
